"Train up a child in the way they should go
and when they are old, they will not depart from it" Proverbs 22:6
Train - to
learn the skills necessary to do a job, or teach somebody such skills,
especially through practical experience - The Encarta Dictionary
Why We Care
At Abounding
Grace we love and value children. We use
the stories in the Bible and the lives of those individuals to demonstrate
character, concepts and Godly principles.
We recognize that children are an investment in the future. We believe children need to know that God
has a plan and a purpose for them, that He loves them, and they are part of His
plan. It isn’t enough to be a good person, it is necessary to have a
relationship with God through the saving grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. No matter what is going on in their lives,
Jesus will never leave them or turn His back on them. Leading children to Christ is like no other
experience. We are privileged and grateful
to also be part of His divine plan.
What We Teach
We at
Abounding Grace believe in the Biblical principal of training up a child in the
way they should go. Although this charge
is given to parents, we are here to assist with the training. The purpose of our Children’s Ministry is to
help the children understand who God is, why we need salvation, how Jesus is
the answer, and the role of the Holy Spirit in our lives, and that God has a
plan for them, all while having fun. We use age appropriate curricula, methods, and tools such as
games, crafts, music, skits, object lessons, multimedia presentations, etc., to
reinforce Bible lessons.
Age Groups
- Nursery: 3 months to 35 months
We have a wonderful staff of people who are here
to serve you. They provide loving care for your baby so you may enjoy the
service without distraction or diversion. Your children are cared for by people
who have a passion for babies and toddlers. Nursery begins at 10:00am; please
check-in prior to 10:20am
- 3 to K: 3 years through Kindergarten
- Kid’s Church: Grades 1 to 6
What We Do
Nursery is
open at the start of service. All other
ages will be dismissed at appropriate times during the service. Typically, ages 3 years to Kindergarten will
be dismissed after Praise and Worship is over.
Grades 1-6 will be dismissed after the morning offering.
Why We Do This
One of the
ways training takes place is by demonstration or practical experience. Keeping the children in the service for
Praise and Worship is demonstrating our love for the Lord and giving Him the
respect he deserves. Children learn from watching and doing. Simply put, we are practicing what we are
preaching and teaching the children to love and respect God, our Father,
through Praise and Worship.
Church
provided snack is served in the classes, except nursery. Peanut allergies are taken into account.
If your child needs you during the service,
your assigned number will be displayed in the Sanctuary.
Why We Check-In
In order to
maintain a safe environment for your children, we need to know what children
are in the classes each week. We also
believe in a check-out system to verify who the children are leaving with.
Currently a
visitor will need to fill out a registration form for each child at our Visitor
Registration area. You will be given a
tag with a corresponding number given to your child. You will need to bring the tag with you when
you pick up your child at their classroom.
If your child needs you during the service, their number will be
displayed in the Sanctuary. We do not
identify anyone by name, only the number.
Proceed to the lobby and an usher will help you.
We will be changing our check-in system in the next few months. Not only will it simplify the process, it will also be more convenient and ‘parent friendly’.
